WayFare Health Foods is a manufacturer of plant-based dairy foods such as butter, sour cream, cream cheese, pudding, and yogurt in Nebraska City, NE. Part of a well-established Australian food business, Sanitarium Health Food Company, we are seeking a Financial Controller to lead and align our finance and commercial function.
As the Financial Controller, you will report to the Managing Director and be responsible for overseeing the financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions within our organization. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the company while providing critical financial insights to support decision-making within operations. If based in Lincoln or Omaha, you will need to be able to visit our factory in Nebraska City on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting: Overseeing the preparation of accurate & timely financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and variance analyses. Ensuring relevant accounting standards and regulations are kept to.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Leading the budgeting & forecasting processes, collaborating with department heads to develop and track budgets and financial plans. Providing financial projections & insights to support decision making.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and implement improvements where needed.
Audit and Compliance: Manage external audits, liaising with auditors to provide necessary documentation and resolve audit findings. Ensure compliance with tax regulations including tax filings and reporting.
Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity, optimizing working capital and overseeing cash disbursements and receipts. Monitor banking relationships and investment activities.
Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
Systems & Technology: Oversee the effective utilization of financial systems. Identify opportunities for system enhancements.
Payroll: Manage the payroll function including accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. Ensure compliance with payroll tax regs, deductions and benefits administration. Oversee payroll accounting & reporting.
About You
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field
· Proven experience in a financial control or accounting leadership role, preferably within manufacturing/FMCG
· Proven experience in cost accounting
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regs and reporting standards
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to interpret complex financial data
· Proficiency in financial software and systems
· Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Detail-orientated and committed to accuracy
· CPA or CMA qualified (preferred)
